Do you ever notice how when you look at photographs you end up headlong into story time? Photographs, unlike anything else, are a window into the stories, memories, and moments of our lives.
… that was the summer she insisted on wearing those cat ears everywhere we went …
… remember how much Grandpa loved that beach …
… gosh, I forgot what his smile looked like with his front teeth missing …
A single image can spin into vivid memories, create a legacy. For me, that has special meaning. In 2012, my father died suddenly just a few months after we’d captured family photos. In those hard moments, holding photos of my dad meant everything to my family. And more than that, it made me realize: I want to give this to other families. For the past 10+ years, I’ve been honored to do just that.
I could live with a camera in my hands
It's nice to meet you! I'm Lauren.
Black coffee and slow mornings are the only way to start a day, IMO.
I come from a long line of storytellers, adventurers, artists, and dreamers. Family and fun were always a part of my Louisiana childhood. Those memories drive what I do today with Lauren Widener Portraits here in Spring, TX.
I’m a mom to four daughters. So when I say I know how to handle chaos you can take that to the bank. I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana and my southern, cultured roots come out in almost everything I do. I love food, family, and fun anyway I can get it!
My photography journey started over 20 years ago in High School with Still Life Fine Art Photography of Nature and Architecture of New Orleans and has evolved over the years to include Portraiture and Storytelling
So what are you waiting for...come as you are and let me capture your family the way you want to remember them. I can't wait to meet you!

My Why
When I lost my father to a sudden tragedy shortly after taking family portraits in 2012 those images instantly became priceless to all who loved him. That planted a seed in me and I quickly realized that this was what I wanted to spend my life doing. I wanted every family to have timeless images of their loved ones but I also wanted those images to be artful, intriguing, and full of beauty!
Combining my love for nature and architecture with my deep desire to tell the stories of the invaluable family unit, I create timeless photographic art for my clients here in Houston and over in NOLA too. There is just something so satisfying about taking photographs and knowing that you will then have one-of-a-kind, nostalgic artwork for your home, for gifting, and for passing down to your children and grandchildren.
